The Maymom Story — From Fathers to Founders
Maymom began in 2012 with a group of fathers who wanted more for their newborn babies. Originally a specialized division of AeroBile, Maymom became an independent company to focus exclusively on the design, manufacturing, and perfection of breast pump accessories.
A Need for Transparency
The inspiration for Maymom came from a personal frustration. Like many parents, we admired the Medela Pump in Style (PIS) for its performance. However, we found that the replacement accessories on the market—even from authorized dealers—lacked transparency. Tubing often arrived in plain bags with no manufacturer name, no date, and no safety labeling.
As fathers, we were concerned. How could we be sure these parts were safe for our children?
Driven by Science, Guided by Heart
We decided to use our professional expertise to solve this problem. Our founding team is comprised of Ph.Ds in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Our founder, Liangchi Li, holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Duke University and brought ten years of high-level experience from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to the brand.
Leveraging our deep understanding of plastic materials and pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing, we began sourcing and verifying materials that meet the highest international safety standards (US and EU laws).

Behind the Name — A Tribute to "Mom"
The name Maymom is a thoughtful fusion of May and Mom.
The choice of "May" honors the founder’s mother-in-law, Chun-Mei (春梅). Because the name "Mei" sounds so much like the English word "May," her daughter (our founder’s wife) chose it as a special English name for her mother. By naming the brand Maymom, our founder sought to honor his mother-in-law’s legacy and her journey through motherhood. Furthermore, May is the month the world celebrates Mother’s Day, making it the perfect cornerstone for our brand. The word "Mom" is the reason we exist—to support mothers everywhere with quality they can trust.
