The tubing is an essential component in most breast pump setups. It connects the flange to the pump and serves as the pathway for airflow generated by the motor.

During double pumping, the setup may include either two tubes of equal length or three tubes connected through a T-shaped (or Y-shaped) adapter.

When single pumping, only one tube is used, while the other pump port—or one tube end—is capped to block the airflow.

In open-system pumps, condensation can sometimes appear inside the tubing after pumping. To keep the tubing clean and dry, run the pump motor for an extra 5–10 minutes after use with the tubing still attached. This helps prevent moisture buildup and mold growth.

In closed-system pumps, milk typically does not come into contact with the tubing because of a built-in barrier (backflow protector). This makes cleaning and maintenance much simpler.

To make pumping more comfortable and flexible, Maymom offers longer tubing options than those provided by the original manufacturer.
