A flange (also called breast shield) is used to connect the breast, breast pump (via tubing), and milk container in a breast pump setup. One-piece flange cannot be separated into shield and base connector. It is a complete unit.

Breast side – contact with a mother’s breast, areola, and nipple. Breast milk flows along the edge into the container. The size of a flange is defined by the diameter of the tunnel entrance, which is essentially associated with pumping comforts.

Pump (tubing) side – attach to tubing. The suction power is provided by the pump motor through the tubing.

Container side – is the part a valve is usually installed onto. During pumping, the suction power pushes the valve to open and close in turn. When the valve is open, flowing milk goes through and eventually drops into the container, which can be a collection bottle or a storage bag. Overall, the mouth of a container or flange is sorted into narrow neck and wide neck on the market.

Maymom provides 3 types of one-piece flange for different occasions.
